Why Your Company Needs Google

By Sharron Crosbie

Google+ has been getting mixed reviews since it launched less than a year ago . Launched as a Social Media tool, it felt nothing like one.

As the months passed, changes were implemented almost weekly that steered Google+ more towards a familiar social media format, yet the inconsistency "message" of what it was about kept many users at bay. Circles as well as the +1 puzzled many and firms were unsure about how to utilize brand pages as a good tool to advertise their product/service.

And so the question asks - should your enterprise be active on Google+? Yes. Beginning right now.

On May 31, Google Places was taken away and replaced with Google+ Local Pages - a major leap for Google+ serving as another indication that Google is making moves to further solidify its position as not only the dominant internet search engine, however as a priority for a company's online social presence.

Below, I've made a 10 item listing to explain why your company should place Google+ at the head of its social media advertising mix:

1. It's Bigger than You Believe

Sure Facebook has 800 million users, but for only about eight months Google+ is approaching 200 million worldwide. Google+ Brand Pages are developing at a quicker rate than on Twitter. Do the math on both and the implications for the future are evident.

2. Quick Set Up

Compared to Facebook, Google+ set up for private and brand pages are now much simpler, as are those bothersome Privacy settings.

3. Integration of Platforms

The genius behind Google+ is its tota integration l with the several other Google platforms that your company probably utilizes. Gmail, Google Docs, Picasa and using Chrome as your web browser may already be in your each day rotation and thus incorporating Google+ as your lead social media tool will improve your daily efforts. If you are using none of the above , then you must - your competitors are.

4. The Search Implications of Circles

Google+ Circles are far more than just a fun way to group your interests, friendships, and associations. When your Circles are appropriately created and you are getting potential customers within your own Circles, their future Google researches are then influenced by their association with you as a business.

If they are logged to their Google account, they have a better opportunity of finding your business in a search query for your category - if you have another in the same Google+ Circle.
