I Designed a Safari Lodge in Uganda

By Colin Jones

Uganda is oftrn known as the diamond of East Africa, owing for the beauty that it has to supply. As part of my work I not too long ago visited this Country on a contract to design a safari lodge. Just like countries near by, Uganda offers visitors some thrilling African treats exactly where they get to get pleasure from the wild, African food and encounter the wealthy way of life of the people today of Uganda. Among the factors that you simply cannot fail to notice about Uganda, is its organized transport system that consists of public service vehicles, motorbikes and bicycles. The men and women right here savor bananas, frequently referred to as 'matoke' anytime since it is their main food. In reality, visitors coming to Uganda cannot leave without having sampling this meal. that is definitely normally cooked in groundnut sauce.

As I got down to my main agenda of the visit, I could not help but notice the fact that most of the furniture items in Uganda are made from pine wood. As such it is common to find pine tables, wardrobes, chairs and even cabinets among other furniture. This made my work a little easier, because as I designer I needed to get the best furniture for the lodge, where visitors would come and enjoy their stay. I set out to make a selection of the various furniture items, that I required to make the project a huge success.

I began by requesting the local furniture dealers to make a custom wardrobe, based on specifications that I presented them with. This was aimed at giving the room and exclusive appeal while ensuring that they maintained an element of richness, so that any two rooms were not the same. I also shopped around for perfect pine tables, and chairs as well as narrow bedside cabinet that would be ideal for placing jewelry or even the bedside lamp in the case of portable lamp.

I made sure that I covered everything on my checklist, I proceeded to try to create a good atmosphere with the lodge. I first picked the colors of your space, that captured the safari lodge theme in order that the element with the nature, and warmth blended perfectly. Secondly, I incorporated a number of accessories such as wall hangings, that depict rich African themes such as the wild, African safaris and even the life style. Other accessories for instance lighting fixtures, were also developed in shapes that pictured many of the African animals. Also critical to take into account was acquiring warm cozy bedding, considering that the lodge is situated inside a region that is definitely fairly cold.

With all these important elements taken care of, I embarked putting almost everything in its rightful spot. The custom wardrobe, perfectly complimented the huge wooden bed while the pine table, was accompanied by a good wooden chair inside the study region. The narrow bedside cabinets were also placed besides the table, strategically completing the set. At the end of it all, the style of your Safari Logde won the hearts of quite a few because it was warm and inviting. To sum up, designing the safari lodge in Uganda was a rare challenge that served to expand my experience of working in African countries.
