Tips For Catching The Social Media Wave

By Cruz Kirkegaard

Social media sites used to be used mainly to share personal items like photos of your family. Today, however, social networks are becoming one of the most valuable resources for brands and businesses. Read this article to find out how social media can help you market almost anything you can imagine.

Look at other popular social media pages related to your field. Notice what these successful business people are doing on their pages. How frequently do they update, and what sort of information do they provide? How is their page formatted? Use the pages that are most popular to figure out ways to make your page better and stand out from the rest.

YouTube can be a wonderful ally in your social marketing campaign. Create videos that include keywords that are relevant to your web site. Since most search engines rank videos higher than sites that don't contain them, making videos can help your search engine ranking. Link your site in the description of your video.

If you have a blog for your company, then when you update your blog with new content, post it on your social media sites after you publish. You can link your followers to your social media marketing site to help them read about it.

Generate excitement and buzz about your products by using social networks. If you are going to release a new product in July, let your Facebook and Twitter followers know in March. Then your customers will be anticipating the launch of your new products when you have them ready.

Take note of the time of the day that you get the most responses and re-tweets on your account. You then want to think about when you send out messages and possibly change it up according to when you receive your messages. If you are using an auto message service, set it up so they send out at that time.

If you don't already have a Yahoo account, make one so you can go through Yahoo Answers. Their website has been around for a while and is packed full of questions, answers, and opinions of users. You can usually find questions that relate to your niche in some way, and this will allow you to create an answer that will include a mention for your product. Creating questions and answers lends you an air of credibility and creates a sense of expertise.

Organize contests on Facebook and other sites. People often times jump at the opportunity to try and win something. Contests can be a great way of incorporating this feeling into your brand while getting people excited about your page. Contests draw an audience that is eager to learn as much as they can on your latest products and offerings because they are hopeful they will win.

Interact with the customers as long as you can. Put comments on your Facebook and on your blogs if you feel it is a good thing. Avoid posting on personal or private posts; instead, only post on updates or images that are relevant to your brand or products.

Although social media marketing employs many of the same techniques and strategies as other marketing methods, many companies are not taking full advantage of all the benefits it can provide. Don't let your competition get a head start on you. Use the suggestions outlined above to begin using social media marketing to bring in more sales and bigger profits.
