a sketch of a career in acting

By Randy Clark

If you have the talent to work in the entertainment industry, then you'll do yourself a favor by seeking a leading talent agency to represent you in your pursuit of stardom. A licensed agency that works with all the top major casting directors, whether it be for print media, TV commercials or series, movies, music videos, etc.

Such an agency should have the connections that will place you in front of all the right clients in order to increase your exposure and opportunities for success. They'll take quite seriously their role in identifying talent and working hard to promote, educate and evaluate that talent.

While its up to a talent agency to match you up with roles that fit your personality, look and overall talent base, there are a few things that you must be willing to do in order to maximize your future roles. For example, if your child has shown a propensity for doing movie or television work, how well does your child fit in above and beyond their natural talents?

A top-notch agency can say they've has placed their models in some of the following TV commercials: Fisher Price, Mastercard, Domino's Pizza, Neutrogena, Kraft, Visa, America Shopping Network, Volvo-Nissan, Disney Cruise, Nike, Lunchables, Wendy's, Pepsi, Papa John's Pizza, Oil of Olay, Kellogg's, Ballpark Franks, Wrigley's, Pert Shampoo, Hagen Daaz, Florida Panthers, Hasbro Ivory Soap, Diet Coke, and many more.

If you're a teen or adult, then you need to think carefully about what you bring to the table in terms of talent, mental attitude and overall enthusiasm and energy. If you're not prepared to invest many hours on casting calls, deal with all situations with a positive and winning attitude, send out your composites on a regular basis, etc, then this may not be the place for you.

The great thing about working with a professional talent agency such as Avenue is that you don't have to constantly call them regarding work...they will call you as soon as you've been booked or are needed on a casting call or audition.
