How To Select The Best Drapery Look

By Adriana Noton

Selecting the right drapery for window treatment is not easy. Getting that perfect look requires patience and numerous trials. The good thing is that there are numerous ways one can determine the right look for a window. Some of the factors to consider is the type of cloth, the length of window, theme, budget and so on. All these factors have to be considered to achieve the best look.

No expertise is required for one to pick out the right design. It also does not require one to be rich to afford them. The most important thing is to know how to pick out a good style. In other words, it does not have to be trendy. One can blend two or more styles together to achieve a better look. The design can be personalized to suit ones preference. Whatever design one chooses, the result should look fabulous on the window

When purchasing window curtains, one should work on measurements. The measurements should take care of the width and height. This is important to get accurate curtain measurements for the window. In case the draperies are meant to hang on the outside, then measurements of these sides must also be written down. This is important to avoid purchasing a fabric too small, too big, too short or too long.

The market is filled with designs and styles from different countries. Therefore, selecting the best for the window should not be a problem. However, some designs are suitable for certain sizes and shapes of windows. Popular designers are relatively cheaper compared to unique and customized ones. The good things about customized styles is that they never fall out of fashion. What's more, there are probably very few people with similar designs out there.

The shape and design of the window play an important role when selecting draperies. Shapes differ these days with some of them being very unique. Finding the right look for some of the shapes can be very challenging. Another important factor is the direction of light towards the window. If the window is positioned directly, it means that the room gets enough light. If the room is one the opposite side, less light enters the room. This kind of window requires bright blinders to trap more light into the room.

When selecting a fabric, color also matters. Its best to work on the theme of the room. If the color is red, then the fabric should also bear that color. The colors should complement the interior decor. However, being too colorful can create confusion.

This can destroy the overall theme giving the room a clustered look. If the room is already full of color, then neutral fabrics are the best. It is always advisable to change the look of the curtain every now and them.

Every window must have drapery to enhance its shape and size and to add some beauty to it. They should be used for both large and small rooms.
