Is It Worth It To Market On Twitter?

By Shelby Moore

Several years ago, there was a big campaign on Twitter marketing tools. It was believed that Twitter was one of the most effective ways to build a list and to get people to order the products you are advertising. Nonetheless, how much of a bang for your buck do you get from any of these software tools that were pushed at us to improve our gross sales? Exactly how great is Twitter marketing? This article will examine the case for becoming involved and to determine if it will really repay your time and effort.

I was one of those who wanted to see if getting a big following on Twitter was going to help my product promotion efforts and so paid for the tools. I signed up for programs that promised to get me followers on Twitter and paid for software tools to help promote my products. Overall, I ended up investing in about eight different programs that would aid me with all of this.

The first Advocare Reviews software I bought allowed me to automatically follow people in the hopes that they would then do the same and follow me. If anyone was not following me, I had another program that would automatically remove them from my to-follow list. Getting rid of non-followers meant I could concentrate on individuals who might be swayed to follow me. Amongst other Multi Level Marketing Twitter marketing tools I got hold of, there was one tool which automatically tweeted a blog post just as soon as it was posted to my blog.

I must say that the combined effect of using all these programs together gave great results since each program did as advertised. I was quickly brought down to earth when I looked at my spreadsheet and realized that I wasn't actually generating any money! Each day I would post roughly ten blog entries knowing that they would then automatically be displayed on Twitter as well. Then I discovered a way to have all the posts done for me automatically, hoping that the more posts I would have the more folks who would see them.

So, let me share my results: After three years utilizing these tools, I had amassed nearly 10,000 Twitter followers. And while you may think that is fantastic, wait 'til you hear the whole story. Also in the past three years I have had at least fifteen thousand of my blog posts that were promoting affiliate products posted to my Twitter account.

Besides that, I did no extra promotion for that blog, as a matter of fact I didn't even ping the new blog entries to see how good Twitter was could be. Well, you can't say that 3 years isn't long enough to obtain decent results but using Twitter I just got 2 - 4 visitors every day to my blog. My affiliate earnings from 2 transactions was $47 and to that you can add $8.65 Adsense revenue - very dismal all around!

Even with close on 10,000 Twitter followers and using software automation, it seems that this is not enough to generate money marketing with Twitter. The bottom line is that the money I've made is not sufficient to cover the cost of the Twitter programs I bought to start with. There might be other more successful ways to market on Twitter, but from my experience, using automatic software tools is not one of them.
