There is plenty that people know about Steve Jobs, the man who helped transform Apple into the world's most valuable company. However, take away the computers and electronic devices he helped bring to the world and there are plenty of facts you might not have known.
1)Not so many people may be aware of other things about Steve Jobs like the fact that he took LSD in his youth. He also thought it was one of the most important things he ever did. These are another four facts about Steve Jobs.
2) While Jobs may be synonymous with Apple today, back in 1985 this was anything but the case. Jobs was fired by John Sculley, a man hired by the board of the company he co-founded, and a man that Steve Jobs would never forgive. It would be a decade before Jobs made a triumphant return.
3) So what did Steve Jobs do while he was in the Apple wilderness? Well the same year that he departed Apple he launched the computer company NeXT. You might not have heard of that company, but you'll surely have heard of the little animation studio he bought a year later: Pixar. Bought for $5 million from George Lucas, the studio would go on to produce blockbuster hits such as Finding Nemo and Toy Story.
4) Born to a woman of German ancestry and a Syrian man, the couple felt they were unable to raise him and a white, middle class couple adopted him. While Jobs had developed a relationship with his biological sister, the author Mona Simpson, he never met his father.
5) Perhaps surprisingly, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates had an amicable relationship. Gates, the founder of software powerhouse Microsoft, is even on the record as saying Jobs is a man he respects, to the horror of fanboys everywhere. In 1997 Jobs and Gates struck a deal that saw huge investment poured into Apple that allowed Microsoft's Internet Explorer to be put onto iMacs.
