DIY Oatmeal Facials Will Save You Money

By Andrew Hoffmann

Don't go out and buy those expensive facial cleaners, toners or moisturizers when all you need to do really is look within the confines of your kitchen cabinets for the products that can give you the clean, clear beautiful skin you want. It's true, many local spas are turning to homeopathic ideas for the sole purpose of reinvigorating and cleansing your skin. Who wants to pay for the same treatment you can get without leaving the comfort of your own home. Below are a few recipes you can make at home with the items found in your home.

A tablespoon of oatmeal powder, a single egg white, and a few drops of lemon oil are what you need for this first recipe. You can find lemon oil at most natural or homeopathic stores or you can check the organic section of your grocery store. Oatmeal powder can be made by grinding up the oatmeal you have on hand. Be sure not to use the instant cook kind, though. Mix the ingredients together thoroughly and completely (this is especially important since you are using an egg in your mixture). Spread the mixture on to your face, taking care to avoid your eyes. Leave the mask on for about twenty minutes, or until it is dry. Use a soft washcloth and water to remove the dried mask.

If you suffer from dry skin, use this recipe. Mix a mashed up ripe banana with a cup of oatmeal. This makes a really thick mixture which you can thin with some milk to make a creamy paste. Spread this creamy paste on your face, avoiding the area around your eyes and let sit for ten to fifteen minutes. Rinse it off with some clean water. You should notice the difference in your skin right away.

If you don't want to use papaya soap you can use whatever soap you have on hand. If you suffer from dry skin, use this recipe. Mix together a ripe banana that has been mashed and a cup of oatmeal. Use some milk to thin this thick mixture into a creamy paste. Spread this creamy paste on your face, avoiding the area around your eyes and let sit for ten to fifteen minutes. After it's sat for the fifteen minutes, use some clean water to rinse it off. And now your skin should feel moisturized.

Another recipe calls for you to dampen three tablespoons of oatmeal with a bit of water then add two teaspoons of witch hazel. Apply to your face using upward, circular motions, after mixing the ingredients together. Let the mixture sit for a moment or two before rinsing thoroughly with clean water. Use a soft, dry towel to gently pat your face dry. Improve your skins condition with the above tips or create your own recipes. It's not smart to waste money when you can get those ingredients right from your kitchen.
