What You Could Offer At A Senior Community

By Jansen Wilhelmsen

You will realize why it is really important to offer different kinds of service for your residents if you are a manager of a community created for assisted living or perhaps adults aged 55 and older. Some of these services will make your residents happier and their lives more interesting and they can be very affordable. To make your residents a bit happier, here are just a few ideas of what to add to your services.

The first thing you would need though is to install a high quality internet service. In every room there should be one and also in the common areas there should be a Wi-Fi area as well. Residents would be able to Skype, internet, email and anything about the internet without any problems.

Television service would be a good idea too for a service. DirecTV system would be a good idea as well for each room in the apartment and also of course in the common area. Just like that, they will have 120 channels for your residents and these channels would most likely have a HD resolution or high definition. There are also some packages that have DVRs which can let them record the programs of their choice and then watch those programs later on.

A DirecTV commercial account easily can be ordered and then installed by Integra Systems. The staff at Integra Systems can insure that DirecTV service is available in each resident apartment as well as in areas such as the dining room or other common areas. That way guests can enjoy watching special TV programs and sports events as a group if they wish.

People love their pets deeply and allowing residents to bring pets would be another good thing for those who are in assisted living. It's certainly hard enough for a person to move from a home into a small assisted living apartment, but if you have to part with a pet and most of our possessions, this can be heartbreaking. A pet-friendly community would be a good thing for residents, and many studies have shown that having a pet makes you less prone to depression and illness, so it's good for the overall health of your residents.

Your residents deserve to be pampered; after all they are supposed to be enjoying their retirement days. Providing high quality food is always a huge bonus, and customizing meals should be done whenever possible. It's fairly easy to customize breakfast, offering omelet and egg stations and a buffet with plenty of interesting choices. Lunch can offer a couple of hot entrees plus a sandwich station and salad bar as well as several soups. Dinners can include taco bars, pasta bars and barbecue buffets just to name a few. The most important thing to realize is that you should be listening to the feedback from residents and trying to accommodate their wishes as much as possible.
