To Understand The Process Of Graffiti Removal Aurora Should Be The First Place To Go

By Annabelle Holman

People who have ever taken part in removing graffiti from surface understand that the removal process is harder than applying. Normally the removal method used should depend on the type of surface in question. Various methods have been developed in different parts of the world for this job. However, when in need of the best graffiti removal Aurora is the right place to pay a visit.

Use of chemicals, scrubbing, emulsification, sandblasting, and repainting are among the commonest removal techniques usable. Graffiti can be applied on any surface including metal, plastic, glass, wood, and masonry. To achieve total removal, some surfaces need a combination of methods. This writing is about surfaces and methods that can work best on them.

Common paint thinners can perform fine on metallic surfaces. Some of the thinners that can be used are acetone, lacquer thinner and mineral spirits. There is no problem with trying other chemical products. Bronze or steel wool can be used to rub off any remnants of paint. Rubbing with light sandpaper is not too bad also. Power washing may be useful in removing paint remnants due to deeply seated graffiti marks.

The method to use on a wooden surface depends on the condition of wood in question. Wood that is still in good condition and has not weathered can be cleaned using mineral spirits. However, weathered wood is not suitable for using mineral spirit because it is absorbed by the wood. This drives the paint deeper into the wood. Repainting the surface can do better because power washing may also drive paint deeper.

Plastic surfaces can be cleaned by wiping them with light penetrating oil. Use of paint thinners on plastic surfaces must be avoided because they cause clouding and permanent tackiness. Sandblasting stands out as the best method to use on plastic surface. However, only hard and strong surfaces should be sandblasted. An elegant job can also be achieved on some forms of plastics by rubbing them softly with ultra-fine wool of bronze or steel.

Masonry surfaces are the most challenging. Such surfaces should be pressure washed at pressures of 3000 psi. Using the right model of a pressure washer, such pressures should remove the graffiti. Sandblasting is the other option to think of if power washing fails. When using sandblasting, one should be careful not to direct the stream of abrasive at a specific point for too long. This etches the surface instead of cleaning it. Painting should be considered as the last option.

Glass is also another tricky surface to clean because of fragility. It is also easily etched with little effort. To avoid etching and breaking the glass, the best method to use is to scrape using a razor blade. The blade should be placed in a holder and used at an angle of 30 degrees with the surface. This method has an efficiency of 99 percent on glass. Remnants of paint can be removed using ultra-fine bronze wool with water.

Use of some of the methods poses certain risks to workers. As such, caution must be exercised to avoid injuries. Wearing protective gear like respirators and sunglasses can reduce the risks significantly.
