What Is Pipeline Inspection For?

By Jessie Uresti

Town roads and sewage have an essential function. Actually it is the life support of a city. Authorities splash around funds for support. During the year there are places that are checked up and are outlined for refurbishment. To do this, different technologies can be applied and mostly used is the trenchless pipeline inspection and repair.

One of the most important parts of the town network is the sewage system. It spreads clean water to households and pumps away the waste fluids. There are cities where this network is hundreds of years old. Inevitably the pipes are worn out and they crack. Urgent measures in such situations must be taken.

It is a whole procedure that has to be followed when repairs are required. First the traffic should be redirected. Signs have to be put on the streets for that purpose and to warn pedestrians too. Lights signalization is obligatory at night in order to avoid accidents and car crashes.

Breaking the complete street cover from end to end is not necessary as it is very expensive and difficult. The engineers demand emergency plumbing to be made excluding any excavations. In this case the most suitable technology is trenchless pipe repair.

How does it work? If a pipe rupture happens it is easily traceable on town blueprints. This also applies for blocked sewage. Firstly an opening is dug and that will be used for the machine to enter and pull the other tube. As a matter of fact that small appliance is like an underground animal that is bigger than the broken channel. Thus it can demolish it to the left and right. By doing this the rocket opens space for the new pipe. The small machine leaves the corridor through an opening across the entering point. In this way plenty of hours and hard work is spared. It is a simultaneous process - the broken pipe is demolished, the intact one is laid. The street top cover is left untouched; no problems are caused for the car movement.

This method is widely spread and a very effective method for infrastructural refurbishment. It's quick, cheaper than the standard method and doesn't create big inconveniences for the public. It doesn't require any specific skills for the workers. No special materials have to be installed with it. Just the normal pipes as size and model are applied.

For sure convincing the important people who decide the future of infrastructure is a challenge as no one dealing with huge financial means wishes to take a chance. But the pipeline inspection for repair technology has proven itself how efficient and easy-to-do it is.
