How Internet Marketers Can Fail in Email Marketing

If you're a business owner, chances are, you have come across this web-based marketing strategy called email marketing. If you have but chose not to act on it, then you're in a brink of risking your business into extinction.

Email marketing has been around for quite some time now. The advancement in technology plus the birth of the internet paved way to this marketing strategy. And because email has become the most common means of communication among web users, it didn't take long for this marketing practice to become well-known.

Many web entrepreneurs settle for email marketing because aside from being convenient, it is also cost-efficient and effective. However, not all who get into email marketing succeeds. Part of which is the doing it in a wrong way due to one or two of the following:

1. Not personalizing your content

Content matters in email marketing. If you want to have your message opened and read by both of your clients and prospects, then you have to customize your message. It also matters to send the right kind of message to the right group. A message-recipient mismatch is a sure way to get rid of subscribers.

2. Not getting your client to click through

If you want more of your products or services to be sold, then you have to make sure that all links in your campaigns are working well. Broken links will definitely shun your customers away.

3. Not tracking your campaigns

By not tracking your campaigns, you wouldn't be aware of the things that you need to improve. Most email marketing software these days come with a campaign tracking feature so if you subscribe to the services of this kind of email marketing features, then you don't have to worry about it.

4. Poorly written copy

There's a reason why you have to proofread your articles before hitting the 'publish' button. Email campaigns with poor grammar and misspelled words are sure ways to drive customers away. Also, sending campaigns with these error are often not taken seriously because it appears as if the publisher doesn't care much with his/her content.

5. Becoming a spammer

When you send unsolicited messages to your subscribers, you are spamming. And this is a sure way of tainting your business' reputation.
