PMP Prep Course - How can it Help Myself?

I would like to share probably the most challenging experiences I've had in the past 15 years regarding my career. After completing my engineering degree in Electrical and Electronic communication, I joined like a software engineer in a Multinational IT business. I was performing coding and unit testing to support an Order management system. Two years later on, I was promoted as a Senior Software Professional. This time my role was exactly the same except taking more complicated tasks and assisting junior programmers. A few years in the future, I became the team leader for the same team. As a lead, my task duty and complexity increased. My primary task was to steer the team to perform the assigned tasks inside the given time frame along with overseeing coding and testing for a few projects. My consistent performance paved the way in which for achieving my next level and I was promoted to an Assistant Project Manager within a span of two years. Going down the actual promotion way, a year later on I was the project manager.

With my role like a Project Manager, I had to manage all projects to get a particular team, and perform additional duties (including administration, hiring, guiding the staff etc) since needed. Due to a business merger, my position was eliminated. Even though it had been sad to leave my employer, I felt it absolutely was positive for my career, and used the opportunity to advance in the industry. It took myself 3 months to find a Project Manager position inside a Federal consulting organization.

I was happy to join the Federal Consulting company due to the fact that was among the best consulting companies in the U. S. In that business, the first evening was dedicated with regard to orientation. Six of us (4 managers and two enterprise analysts) oriented in regards to the company and organization policies. I met my own immediate supervisor at night. He introduced me to his fellow workers and teams. On the second day I was a part of software installation and spend quite a bit of time to go through organization policies. In the night my boss took me to his office and trusted me with a few assignments. One was to prepare a Procurement document for one of our clients to put in "Event Management Information System" to control crises situation. The other was to get ready a Risk Management Plan for an internal venture. He assigned the team of company analysts, and gave me a deadline to accomplish the tasks. I was shocked because Used to do not know something about Procurement preparing and Risk Management plan once we never developed such documents during my previous employment. To cut the long story short, I struggled a lot. With help coming from my colleagues I was able to produce the deliverables, and met the deadlines. The lesson learnt for me personally was: whatever I managed in my previous job had been managing operations and not managing projects; I had to possess comprehensive project management abilities and knowledge and realized the importance of formal project management training to achieve my career.

Formal education is a structured education system which supplies the training and skills required to perform a particular task in a organized way. It is a powerful weapon used to gain knowledge in different field. This is applicable for people who wanted to enter Project Management field additionally. Though the Project Management terminology or specific implementation changes from company to be able to company, once you know the basic principles by formal training, you can construct on that knowledge and adapt to any system your company uses. Let us get back to my situation. How did I address the challenge? I joined in a PMP Exam Prep course to learn Project Management. What I gained in benefits is multifold. That helped me to acquire the right expertise and knowledge necessary to manage projects in a environment. It helped me to organize for the PMP test, and I used the course completion certificate for that exam PDU. The certificate provided by most of the institutions can provide as the eligibility criteria to create the PMP examination. There are many institutions offering PMP Prepare courses. I would suggest one to join a course which is convenient for you to put your career on track.
