By George Dodson

The person who is used to trim trees professionally is called an arborist. A qualified arborist is considered as the doctor of trees. It is not so trouble-free to take care of a tree. For performing this job you should have a suitable knowledge, understanding and skill. A good arborist should have three major qualities. Firstly, know how to climb up a tree. Secondly, should have an ability to use the right type of tools. Lastly, ensure the safe falling of detached limbs.

An arborist uses many types of tools. Now a day in tree trimming work most used tools are cutting tools.

Tools for cutting tree

1. Your Shears for Lopping The blades of lopping shear can be compared to the bypass pruning shear. Lopping shear consists of two long handles. Being long the handles are able to formulate heavy pressure on the object and the cutting becomes easy. For this accumulative pressure it is easy for you to cut a branch up to 1.5 inches through lopping shear.

2. Chain Saws for Slice Cutting Basically larger branches are discarded by chain saws. Chain saw is a power saw and the source of its power is either electricity or gas which operates a spinning chain. Do you want to give many slice cuts on a branch? I think a chain saw is the best tool for you as it contain a series of cutting teeth. It is recommended not to hold chain saw above your shoulder and always wear a protective dress with eyewear at the time of working.

3. Pole Saw for Large Branches Pole saws are nothing but a pruning saw connected to a pole and it contains special teeth for cutting. Pole saws are generally bulky and it is difficult to give a smooth cut by this tool. Move fast after removing a branch with a pole saw. Otherwise you may be injured.

4. Basic Hand Saws Hand saw is mostly used to cut small branches like 1 inch to 4 inches in diameter. This tool works well for little branches. For containing special teeth pole saw suits most for cutting larger twigs.

Tools for climbing and safety

Tree climbing is somewhat recreational and fully practical task because, you have to move from crown to crown of a tree. To ensure safety arborist has to use ropes and climbing gear at the time of tree ascending. If any branch grows in an unsafe place or position the arborist use safety cables to train it.

As an arborist wear a helmet and it will ensure the safety of your head from any kind of wound.

If you want an arborist job, a special type of clothing is a must for you. It is important to wear hand gloves. It will act as a defender for wood splinters and cutting equipments.
