Being Professional On Social Media

By Franklin Skribbit

The workplace has the potential to be a great place to make friends and learn to work well with other people. No matter where you work, you should be able to enjoy the time you are spending there and work productively.

Allowing this information to become public can result in any number of unpleasant consequences. There's also always the possibility that you could become the victim of identity theft if someone else gets hold of your medical records. So what can you do to prevent this from happening? Read through these tips to find ways to keep your health information secure.

Be Smart

While these things may be obvious, there are other less noticeable ones that should also be avoided. Everything you post may come back to haunt you if you do not censure yourself. While it is absolutely not necessary to filter your comments and responses to the point of removing all personality, it is a wise person who posts from a place of respect. Avoid derisive or destructive comments of any kind and steer clear of any derogatory statements.

Sexual harassment is one of the most common and the most awful forms of harassment. When it takes place in the office, it is not only inappropriate, but also bad form and creates an environment of fear and discomfort.

A surprising amount of medical information that gets leaked does so because someone was not careful enough when using the computer. With the amount of information we receive and transmit using email and other digital services, extra care is required to ensure that your information does not fall into the wrong hands. Make rules for yourself when using computers and always adhere to them.

IF you or someone you know is being harassed based on their sexual orientation, it is extremely important for you to report it to a supervisor and make sure that the matter is resolved, and proper steps are taken to correct the issue.

Destroy Materials Properly

There is still a pervading idea in this nation that throwing something away is a good way to dispose of it. Unfortunately, that is simply not the case. Identity theft often occurs because an unsavory character is intuitive enough to look through your garbage.

As mentioned above, there is no need to wipe your personality from your social media accounts. Stay true to who you are but bear in mind that what you do on your social networks are just that. Remember that they are social and now accessible to those in your network.
