Taking Effective Action With Your To-do List

By Elba Russell

When you work in Internet Marketing you need to be able to focus on whatever your main goals are (making money, building trust with your audience, getting better leads) and actually put in some real work to make those goals happen. This article will teach you how to build a great to-do list that will help you reach your goals.

Choose the Right Medium: Perhaps the first thing you need to take care of when you put together your to-do list is making sure that you choose the best medium for it. It's completely up to you as to what works for you, but once you know where you want your to do list to rest, stick to it. For some, they are far more comfortable using a plain piece of paper and a pen but other people might fare better while using a computer to store the list. If you want you can also use different applications on your smart phone as a medium to create and work on your to-do list. In order to get the absolute most from your own to-do list, you need to keep it on a medium with which you feel comfortable.

Leave the List Visible All Day Long: If you want to take consistent action on your to-do list then it has to be visible all day long because that's the only way you're going to be pushed to take consistent action on it. It is important to focus all of your efforts on ensuring that you aren't ignoring your list because a distraction caught your attention and wouldn't let go and helped you forget that your to-do list even existed. For example, if you keep your to-do list on your computer, make sure that the application that holds your list is always open and in front of your face so that you can't ignore it. Plus, if you keep the list in front of your face, it adds a sense of urgency to the items on it so that you will feel motivated to keep crossing things off.

Have a Separate Section to Write Down Your Ideas: It's incredibly common that, while you work through your to-do list, you will think of things to do that feel like they need to be taken care of right then and there. However, you should avoid doing this as it will take you away from your main goal of completing your to-do list. Instead of this, create a separate section where you can record your ideas and take notes when you feel like. It's easy to take care of these items later on when you do this because you'll still be able to focus on your primary to-do list.

Your primary goal should be to do everything you can to finish your to-do list every day and if, for whatever reason, this can't be done, there is always tomorrow.
