Three Proven Local SEO Strategies To Build Your Offline Business

By Alana Vaughn

Have a business that you want to rank locally in the search engines? You will find below three powerful suggestions that you can implement immediately that will help you make your way to the top.

Perhaps your first action to improve your local SEO rankings is to create your business profile. When you do register online with Yahoo Local, Bing Local, or Google, among other things they will want to verify your business address with a quick phone call. This is simple but powerful as well as necessary for doing local SEO, and we don't think a tremendous number of businesses know about doing this. Don't overlook something like this as it will contribute to your SEO campaign.

You'll find that local directories won't approve if you submit your business more than once to them. So keeping this rule in mind, you should try to have different landing pages for different locations. It should never be a problem because it's a legitimate need on your part. For each listing you do have, then the links will go to your site so they can find out about all your different locations. What you don't want to do is send multiple listings to the exact same landing page.

Lastly, make sure to add a local phone number to your site. Make sure you're mentioning your number in text because the search engines can't read it then. 800 numbers are out because you should have a real number proving you are a real company. Why should you not have these numbers? The problem is they don't clearly indicate your location on their own, even if they look great and professional. Thus, the key is to ensure your phone number is real.

It really all depends on where you are, but if the traffic justifies it then you should use local SEO. The best part about local SEO is that it isn't really that difficult to manage or master for that matter. If you do it, then you may discover good results in a relatively short time. If your efforts prove successful, then just be sure you can meet the higher demand. Local traffic tends to be a bit warmer because it is local.
