A Few Basic Guidelines Can Make A Mobile Marketing Campaign Effective.

By Esme Spence

Connecting with consumers when they are on the go, with mobile marketing campaigns, is more important than ever. Text message marketing services (also referred to as SMS) can be a highly effective technique in today's fast-paced, mobile world. But just because you have access to customers through their mobile devices does not guarantee you any degree of success with them. If what you are offering does not catch consumer's eye and cause them to want to act, then your efforts, unfortunately, are for not.

Appealing to most of the people, most of the time is possible with mobile marketing. In fact, mobile marketing campaigns are very effective when done well and, likewise, totally disasterous when improperly implemented. Getting your texts read and actually turning that into results is tricky, but some guidelines exist aimed at doing just that. First, be brief and stay focused. Try to avoid hype, slang and abbreviations that will more often then not turn off potential customers. Second, when sending a marketing text message, clearly identify your brand or product. And finally, you have to make customers feel special, promoting your offer in such a way that there is unique value.

There is no room for fluff in mobile marketing campaigns: be brief and stay focused! Chances are, you will only get a few seconds of consideration, if any at all, so aim to use it well. Know your target audience and speak directly to them, thereby increasing the likelihood of favorable results. Leave out unimportant details and focus on outlining the offer clearly. Chances are, if your text message looks like spam, potential customers will immediately delete it without giving it further thought. Leave out items that appear too slick or promotional in nature. Avoid "hype", slang, and text abbreviations, as these often cheapen your brand rather than promote it.

A text message marketing service can send text messages to potential customers, but this makes it increasingly important to identify yourself. Often, companies get the spam treatment because they forget to clearly let customer's know who they are. When receiving only a phone number and a vague message, there is a high probability that customers will simply delete the message without even trying to identify the source the mobile marketing campaigns originated from. Clearly identifying your company will help you to avoid instant deletion with most customers.

And, finally, build immediate value to act and make customers feel special. No one wants to receive text messages unless there is an offer for something of immediate value. Providing information about a sale or new product with a limited time offer gives customers a reason to act, now. Text messaging is an instant medium, so make sure to provide value for your service or promotion in real time. And, keep in mind if what you are offering is available to all customers via your website or another medium, there is no reason for a potential customer to hurry to act. In fact, they may opt out of receiving any further messages from you as a result. Instead, make recipients feel that they are special and have qualified for an exclusive promotion. This makes clients feel important and valued and, hence, they are more likely to take advantage of the products and services that you are offering.

Learning to follow a few simple rules for mobile marketing services, including text message marketing services, can maximize your ability to reach customers.
