Why There Is No More Super Music Producers ?

By Nicole Axe

At the beginning of 2000's, the music business, most notably the communities of hiphop and rnb, noticed the beginning of what we now call the "super music producers", accounting for leaders: Dr. Dre, Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins and also The Neptunes.

What is meant by a "super producer"? Okay, the proper example of their difference with a "simple" producer would certainly make the instance of what we call a "supermodel" in fashion, comparable to Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer or even Naomi Campbell. You know those well-known super-models as well as everyone else and you can see all of them on almost all the catwalks. Basically: safe values.

This became the same in the music sector: there were "big" producers, safe values, that directed entirely the projects and were desired by the most renowned singers and also rappers. It had been always much safer for record label to work with a nationally ranked music producer other than a beginner. The legendary producer presented a many of award winning singles, in theory. Simply because right at that time commonly big music producers sold discs.

However, the music industry, after the start of the decade changed. First, many people don't actually purchase disk now.

Then the record labels give much lesser budget for a project. And usually, record labels are no longer looking to put in money between $ 100 000 to $ 300 000 for one single beat, as was the condition at the time of the golden era of music producers. The disks do not sell and internet starts to develop. To deal with illegitimate downloading of their artists, record companies develop or connect with statutory download tools and just try to push their visibility on this cyberspace place, that has been running from their control for so long.

But the rise up of the web also has allowed the arising of many of unknown producers as good as, if not preferable to, "Super Producers".

All of these producers have focused on the progression of the Web, which has allowed these to sell their beats online. Encouraging them to reach and also work with artists on any nearby scale as well as a global one. A producer from New York city can even sell beats to anybody in Japan. This is now faster and easier for them to obtain a good credibility with a career. For the artists, this makes a really big difference! They are able to buy beats online from home for their album, EP or even mixtape for affordable prices; certainly not those practiced by the "super producers".

Record labels pay a specific attention to this brand new business. They buy beats online too. And recently we can easily see that some internet producers are obtaining hired by majors.

The great epoch of super producers just like the era of super model goes away little by little, delivering way to this new business directed by producers who, usually, have nothing to envy to the "super producers".
