An outline of SMSTS training and how it affects your company.

Giving your employees training up to a minimum standard in order that services are delivered in the approved manner and in line with current best practices and legislation is frequently the case. To cover these areas is extremely important, however, an area that is repeatedly overlooked is the training of your management team. The management of a business is vital and giving them a better working understanding of the environment in which they work can only make better the company as a whole. Companies working within the construction industry, can reach improved standards by choosing a site management safety training scheme course (SMSTS).

The SMSTS programme aids your organisation to get up-to-date with safety standards. Whilst your business is in this situation, you know that your organisation is ready for any eventuality. This programme is for all who are over construction line management, such as, supervisors, site managers and site foremen. They will acquire a total awareness of site management when they have completed the programme.

It is up to the organisation to assure that their management are up-to-date on all parts of the health and safety of their employees and the general public. It is crucial in the construction industry to operate in a safe surroundings. All employees working within a site environment should have an introductory understanding of how to make a site safe to work in, a SMSTS course will develop their knowledge and awareness of health and safety management to current standards.

The SMSTS training course takes place over five days. Typically, it is carried out as a single block but their is occasionally the possibility of attending once a week for five weeks in order to lessen disruption in the workplace. Some businesses conceive that they cannot lose time by giving staff time off to go to training for a whole week, it must be remembered that this kind of training will pay dividends over time.

For the duration of the five day course, the attendees are continuously assessed alongside written assignments and core exercises, in addition, there are oral questions to be answered and practical observations. Every piece of work is marked and candidates have to get the required pass marks. All candidates must sit an examination at the close of the course.

At the ending of the programme and the acquirement of the pass mark, the candidate with get CITB certification for five years. To renew following full qualification, there is a refresher course lasting only two days. The refresher course is only available to those who have previously completed the five-day SMSTS course. The always changing position in the construction industry with the evolution of new technologies and the reviewed and improved safety practices means that employees for the refresher course must do a little revision beforehand, which is good practice anyway.
