Analysis Of Blackberry's Poor Sales In China

By Jean Williams

Due to the decrease of market share in the U.S., the BlackBerry maker RIM's stock price keeps falling. In the third quarter, the sales statistics show that BlackBerry's market share came in the fifth place with a market share of 7.1%, behind Samsung, LG, Motorola and Apple. As for the Chinese market, the BlackBerry's monthly sales are only 300 to 400 units. In contrast, Samsung's monthly sales are 2 million to 3 million units. Nokia's sales are close to 4 million units.

This year, RIM (http://www.customcutstainlesssteel.com/) signed with three major operators in China to start selling the BlackBerry service. In addition, it announced that it would sell the BlackBerry through social channels. However, the grand strategy is much different from the reality. The analysts of the industry said that if compared with Nokia, the sales of BlackBerry are only 1% of the sales of Nokia. Of course, it is related with Nokia has many low-end mobiles phones. But even from the perspective of products with the same price, BlackBerry's sales are also very bad.

Who can save the Blackberry? Relying simply on the purchasing power of BlackBerry fans, it is obviously difficult to achieve. More importantly, BlackBerry's fans are also turning to other mobile phones.

On October 10, RIM's BlackBerry service was interrupted, first affecting the whole of Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India. The affected users can not get access to the Internet, use instant messaging and e-mail or other Internet services. Subsequently, the failure scope expanded to the world. This is undoubtedly a heavy blow on BlackBerry. The network services paralysis in large area make its mail and security system which it is proud of look vulnerable.

In this regard, RIM specially set up an investigation team for the investigation of the main reason of BlackBerry's network outage and assessment the need for redesign of the server network. In addition, the company recently introduced three new Blackberry products Bold 9900, Torch 9860 and Curve 9360, intended to restore user confidence. However, these initiatives did not boost the poor stock. RIM shares fell below book value. The current market is still lack of confidence in RIM.
