Plumbing Vista- Plumbing Water Pressure

By Frank Chang

What makes the water comes from sinks, bathtubs or shower in your home? Simple: the water in the plumbing in your house is under pressure. If your home meets the standards of the Uniform Plumbing Code, it will be pushed to about 50-70 pounds per square inch (PSI). If you do not know the water pressure in your home, you can measure it with a water manometer. These can be purchased at most hardware stores, and will link to one of your faucets.

If you get water in the city or municipal water supply, water is actually in your house at a pressure higher than the household plumbing can handle. If you must connect directly to the water supply pipes in the house in the city, would soon destroy the water pipes and equipment. So how do handle this case? They need a pressure relief device installed on your indoor plumbing and water pipes in the city - this device to calculate the water pressure to an acceptable level of your home.

On the other hand, if you get a water well, water pressure is too low in your home. You simply pull the water from the ground, but it's not pressure at all. If your home plumbing system connected directly to your right, you should get a little 'more than a trickle of all the taps, bath, and so on. If a tap is physically located above the tap water - for example, on another level of your home - you do not get water for all! So instead of pressure reduction equipment for the city people need homes, your house really need a pressure, in addition to the device. This device is basically a large tank, which inflates his own water well and increase the pressure at the right level of home plumbing.

Pressure relief devices and pressure equipment as well as any other piece of equipment home, wear out over time. If the pressure over the device wears out, you will begin to notice reduced flow of water taps in your home, especially on upper floors. If the problem continues unchecked, it causes additional stress on a pump that will eventually let it burn.

If you have a pressure reducing device begins to wear down, the water pressure in the pipes at home begins to grow beyond the recommended levels. One of the first victims of this increasing pressure in pipes, tubes and other soft metal - may burst and flood your home. Also cause increased water pressure loss in the joints and valves for the toilet pipes. In the worst cases, even the metal pipes can break into your home.

If you need to inspect, repair or replace the devices in the home water pressure, it is best to call a plumber to try to do it yourself. Plumbers will be familiar with the regulations in your area and the water pressure can examine the internal specifications of the pressure of water at home. So if you need a repair or complete replacement will be able to plan and implement a solution that suits your personal housing situation.
