Trends For T-Shirt Design On Facebook For 2014

By Ben Khatib

T-shirt trends reflect what people are thinking about and talking about, so there is a real cultural movement involved here. Last years T-styles just aren't going to make the grade, so here are some of the new trends that are emerging for 2014.

Certainly sports t-shirts are big, and nothing will be bigger than the World Cup. Just about every nation in the world will be participating, and in order to support their country's team there will be a host of t-shirts that people will be purchasing in that order.

An emphasis on graphics in a more traditional style with a good bit of detail with the text of the subject matter woven into the graphic. This is an eye-catcher and deserves a second look. The design can be multi-color or a single color on a contrasting colorful background. Steam Punk comes to mind as a good subject for this type of graphic. Chalkboard text grabbed a lot of attention in 2013, and it will continue to dominate in 2014 with its simplicity and craft-like looks. It states a simple message in a catchy sort of a way, that makes its statement and then moves on.

Graphic design is back and becoming very popular in the sense that the graphic and the text are interwoven to create one design all in of itself. The involve the text and the design being intertwined to resemble something classic and a thing of beauty.

Tees that are one color are still very popular to make a point or promote a sports team. This is how our earlier sports t-shirts were delivered, and this is still a popular method. Probably the nostalgic feel of a one-color tee has a lot to do with it. Niche groups like motorcyclists, or little league is still a very popular use of t-shirts to promote and attitude or a statement withing the niche. This will continue to be popular for years to come.

One color designs take us back to the original days when sports teams all had a one color statement with the team logo or design being the prominent focal point. For screen printing, this is a more inexpensive way of doing things, but it is probably the nostalgia of yesteryear that has something to do with this trend as well. In 2013 chalkboard art was big with its hand-drawn look and its ability to draw attention. Craft-drawn text is in and catchy in its look and will command a large share of the market for the coming year for sure.
