Standford University 101

By Philip James

Stanford is recognized to be one of the most renowned universities in the United States as well as the world. I could very well supply you the Wikipedia version right here, but I reckoned it would turn out to be more suitable to help show you the point of view of a student rather than from a historical point of view.

The campus grounds are, without a doubt, beautiful and the finest you could ever see on the west coast. You could instantly describe the architecture as a bit more up-to-date and country club more "elite" than that of an Ivy League campus, but regardless, I still prefer its mission style architecture. The actual structures and complexes within the area are well-known including the Palm Drive, which is truly a vision to itself.

Stanford is considered only second to University of Moscow in terms of the campus size in the whole world. The campus provides for their students conveniently with postal service, a golf course, an excellent selection of restaurants, including the Jamba Juice for all the wheatgrass fanatics, a gas station and a large university store.

Get a bike to get around campus. I love how flat the campus is so you can ride a bike. If that is not an option, walking is beautiful but it's going to take you a bit longer. Watch out for bikes! I enjoyed walking around campus with a book in my hand. It was very relaxing, and I never got hit by a bike.

With regards to it academic standards, Standford is a 12 on a scale of 1 to 10.I have met a bunch of wonderful instructors and I absolutely treasure the educational experience I've had there. Inside the campus buildings you will find a bustling arena of innovations and experiments that are all geared toward making a world a better place, as more notably, helping other people lives. Classes are kept within a small scale of 1:6 teacher-student ratio. Small class sizes. It's about 1:6 ratio. There are also a lot of programs that makes it possible for students to study abroad at one of the many Standford international campuses. However, if you choose to stay there, you will most likely meet several prominent educators within the classroom.

Stanford receives over 34,000 applicants per year for about 1500 freshman admits. 92% of the applicants were in the top 10% of their High Schools graduating classes. The only other way in is if mom or dad buys Stanford a new building. Many students are science or engineering majors. However, 3500 students are undeclared majors. No need to rush declaring a major. Campus is highly manicured, traditional and space age architecture. 98% of students live on campus. Stanford has a campus wide free bus system. Many students get around by bicycle.

Stanford students tend to be focused, creative and positive. It attracts the best of the best. The cost of tuition is $56,000 per year including tuition, room and board. No extra cost for international study or other special programs. Tuition assistance work programs are available to help reduce the finances. Nearly all students get financial aid, scholarships and loans.

I have studied in Standord for four formative years and have gained a profound affection for it. This university readies you for dealing with life outside of school in a well-developing manner. As an admitted Social Distortion admirer and an alumni of Standford, it is easy to describe my life as a charmed one.
