Tips To Improve Your Website's Design

By Manny Rutz

Trying to design a website can be extremely intimidating in the beginning. What can you do to maximize your site's appeal? Where do you begin in the coding process? The following article will offer you some great suggestions that can help you build a site that looks wonderful, while also helping you to promote the content.

One simple design feature some people often don't pay attention to but is important is your website's favicon. Your favicon is that little icon on the left hand of your browser next to your URL. Believe it or not some people will bookmark your site if the find it interesting. Which is why if you have a favicon you can also be consistent with your business or theme.

If you are creating a commercial website make sure to make the process of entering information on your site as easy and smooth as possible. People are naturally lazy and they like things to be simple and straightforward. If you have your site structured correctly your visitors will have a positive experience and will return in the future.

Make any logos on your website link to the home page. People have learned to be accustomed to a few things, including menus on the left, headers at the top and logos which lead back to the front of the site. Visitors will become frustrated if there is no easy way to return to the home page. Your site is much easier to use if your logo is clickable.

One important tip is to often maintain and update your site's content. Avoiding broken links and empty pages is one way to do that. It can be extremely frustrated to end up with a broken link on a page, which is why you must often check and make sure your content is always live and working properly.

Hopefully these tips help you and you now have a few more ideas on what it takes to structure and design a good website. The more you research and apply the better your site will look in the end, good luck to you.
