Caring For Your Carmel Stone

By Charity Willis

One of the materials used in residential and commercial spaces is the carmel stone. Stones like these are quite popular and are used for floors, fireplaces, tubs, pools, showers, and countertops. These are also good materials for building pathways, walls, and other landscaping elements. When using these stones, one has to make sure that they know how to properly care for them.

If you are wondering how to make these stones last, one thing you should always remember is proper installation. Stones that last the longest time are the ones that were installed in the most proper manner. These were laid out on a surface that is very even. Surfaces that have gaps and holes could only make way for cracks. Apply just the right amount of grout or other substances to keep the stones in place.

One thing that could easily damage these stones is water or any other liquid. Water can seep into it and compromise the substance that is keeping it intact. The best way to prevent this from happening is by sealing the surface. There are special sealers that can be used to waterproof surfaces especially the ones made from stones and tiles.

When it comes to sealers, you should know that these come in different kinds. One example is the impregnating sealer. This is what you need to give the surface maximum protection. A topical seller would be for making stones glossy. There is also sealer that can enhance color and still protect the surface from water.

Owners have to keep the surface clean all the time especially if it used frequently or there is heavy traffic on that area. Grime, water, and dust should never be allowed to accumulate because this will cause the surface to deteriorate. When cleaning, see to it that you will do it using the right techniques and products.

Aside from applying a sealer, there is another thing that you can do for your floor. You can subject it to a non slip treatment. By doing this, your floor is going to provide more traction so people will not slip and fall. This is best done for bathrooms, showers, pools, driveways, patios, Jacuzzis, and any surface that tend to become slippery.

For chipped or cracked stones, owners should do something before the problem will get more serious. You also need to act right away when the grout became too loose. Take note of scratches, discolorations, and water stains. You can take care of these things yourself or get the services of a professional.

There are companies that can be hired if you prefer to let professionals do the task. They can send skilled individuals over to do tasks like stone installation. Owners can also hire them for maintenance or preventive treatments so stones will have a longer lifespan. They also repair and restore damaged stones.

Carmel stone can make a place look more elegant and beautiful. However, its beauty will not last long if you will not give it the care it needs. As the owner, you should make sure that it is maintained and given the right treatment.
