Acquiring AdSense Approval-What You Should Know

By Olivia Ryan

Google AdSense happens to be a popular way to earn an income from a website, and is currently used by a large number of sites successfully. The technical challenges of getting AdSense on your site are minimal. Of course these advertisements won't be allowed on your blog or site until you've gotten approval from Google. There are a few things that you need to keep in mind to ensure your application gets approved, some of which we'll be discussing below ...

Give Your Site a Bit More Time: Your site is far more likely to be approved by Google Adsense if it's more established. The longer you allow your site to age before you apply, the better your odds will be of being approved. A website that has aged for at least six months also has the opportunity to build up content levels and work on driving more traffic to the site. Google will happily reject a brand new website if you go ahead and submit it too early. A company like Google will obviously prefer to have reputable, long-standing sites as partners. They obviously don't want to see Adsense abused or misused, so they're very careful about which sites they want to work with.

Get consistent traffic coming into your site before you turn to AdSense. Getting regular traffic lets Google know that this has the potential to be a profitable partnership for them. This is particularly important for your site if it's a few months old. If your site is well established and you're getting large amounts of traffic then there's nothing to worry about. But if you have a new site, take a little time to make sure it gets listed in search engines and a few web directories first. Submit targeted articles to article directories, write guest posts for other blogs, build backlinks and take whatever step you can to make your site more popular. If your traffic numbers are solid and healthy it will be an easy approval decision for Google to make.

Apply through established services for AdSense like Google Knol, Squidoo, HubPages, and Blogger. Don't seek approval until after you've established a bit of your own history for best results even when using these services. The odds that you will be accepted though are much better when you go through Blogger to apply. This is mainly because Blogger is owned by Google itself and they would look out for every opportunity to grow it. Once you create your blogger blog, make sure you post quality content on it for a few weeks before applying.

The initial approval may seem a little harrowing but once you're approved you can post AdSense ads on many sites. But it will pay off for you must faster if you build a solid foundation before you apply.
