I don't know if you have heard the story called 'Acres of Diamonds', but it is a true story that carries an incredible lesson in life. The story is about a farmer in South Africa that kept reading about how diamond prospectors were making millions in Africa discovering diamonds.
Growing weary of attempting to grow crops on his rock covered farm he decided to move on. He sold his farm at a bargain price so he could join those prospecting for diamonds across Africa. After years of unfulfilled hope, all of his money gone and frustration his health started to fail. In total depression he committed suicide.
The new owner of the farm also did his best to grow crops on the rock covered land but with only poor success. While working his land he found an unusual stone in the creek that ran through the farm. He put it on his fireplace mantle as an interesting object.
A neighbor stopped by to visit. He examined the stone and told the new farmer it was one of the largest diamonds ever found--worth a King's ransom. To his surprise, this farmer replied, "oh, my entire farm is covered with stones just like that one."
The story continues that the original farmer sold his land at a bargain so he could pursue his dream of wealth by prospecting for diamonds across Africa. Little did he know that he was sitting on top of the one of the most prosperous, richest diamond mines of the world.
This story has a powerful message. We must examine all of the resources around us before we try to find what we're looking for elsewhere. You have heard all of the excitement of company bonus cars, travel programs, big checks and want to believe this is possible. But, when you inventory your organization you find only one person; you. You see, your Acres of Diamonds are all around you; the people you know. Studies support that adults over 21 know at least 500 to 700 people. All you do is make a list of 100 that you consider to be close in friends. As you review the list mark those who are ambitious and have proven themselves to be successful in other endeavors. List your top candidates.
Top Candidates are:
Married, Have Children, Employed, Own a Home, Age 25+, MLM experience, Health conscious, Involved in a church, Licensed in Insurance, Licensed in Real Estate, Etc.
For sure, working with good candidates will increase your odds for success. Seek those who have a strong desire for success. Continue working on your list as you go through your day. Have one list for your top 100 who live in your home area. Have another list of those who live more than 40-50 miles away. With the internet today we're able to work effectively with prospects thousands of miles away; put them on your list.
You have now made your first list of 100. It's time to reduce that list to your top 24. The top 24 who you believe have the 'right stuff' to be successful in your program. Send your list to your sponsor. Don't ever forget that your sponsor has as much interest in you being successful as you do. Draw upon that support and have your sponsor help you contacting those on your list.
Remember, everyone that you and your sponsor call that joins the company are in your organization. You sponsor will accelerate your progress by helping you with phone calls, on-line webinars, personal visit and interviews. Draw upon that support to help you set up personal interviews.
Choose your meeting places:
Your prospect's home, breakfast meetings, your home, the internet, morning or afternoon coffee are all places that work well
The best training is when you set the appointment and call your sponsor in to make the business presentation. Sit back, relax and learn as you watch your sponsor talk about the company, the products, the opportunity, the compensation plan and how to get started. Soon, you will be able duplicate what he/she is doing.
The business is presented in a non-threatening way. No concern about losing friendships when the interview is handled correctly. Detailed scripts to guide you have been set in place. Let say your prospect shows interest. You and your sponsor will invite him/her to the next step which is a formal in-home party or hotel meeting where a full business presentation is made.
THERE IS MAGIC IN 'EXPONENTIAL GROWTH'
When you follow the training that has been detailed and set in place you can expect to sponsor 5-10 of the prospects on your list. Expand your list beyond 100 and your numbers increase.
In my own personal production I sponsored six people in my first month. In turn, they each sponsored 5. That continued on into my third month where my earnings exceeded $16,000.
